We were asked to investigate the high attrition rates for care workers and recommended retention and recruitment solutions including a competency framework for supervisors. Coming largely from care worker backgrounds, the supervisors held the right values and passionately wanted to provide high quality care to their service users. However, they lacked the skills to manage large field based teams particularly in tackling absence and retention issues and focusing on business KPIs.
